Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, will bring back its annual holiday event, Christmas at the Castle. The series of events takes place at the Lucknow Estate, a National Historic Landmark, across three weekends at the start of the holiday season. This year’s theme is “Old-Fashioned New England Christmas.”

The public events run every Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 21 through Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can explore the castle and see holiday décor provided by local businesses. Activities include shopping with local vendors at the Artisan Fair, taking a photo with Santa and making holiday crafts. Hot cocoa and cookies are free.

The Carriage House Restaurant will be open and will offer a holiday lunch.

The season begins with the Christmas Preview Party at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Guests can tour Lucknow Mansion before the general public and enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and carolers. They also get first access to the Artisan Fair in the Carriage House. Tickets are limited, and proceeds benefit the nonprofit mission of the Castle Preservation Society.

Christmas at the Castle Twilight Tours return after being introduced last year. On event dates at 3 p.m., visitors can take a dusk tour of Lucknow Mansion lit with holiday lights. Tickets are limited for a more intimate experience.

“Our theme this year is a perfect fit for the historic estate and aligns with our current museum exhibit about the history of the property,” said Charles Clark, executive director of Castle in the Clouds. He said the Preview Party and Twilight Tours give new and returning visitors unique ways to experience the event.
