The United States Postal Service has announced its new Christmas Cookies Forever stamps, featuring images of frosted sugar cookies. The design booklet includes 20 stamps showing four distinct holiday cookie shapes: a Christmas tree, a stocking, a wrapped present, and Santa’s face.
The stamps will launch during a free public event on Saturday, September 19, at 11 a.m. Eastern time. The ceremony takes place at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum, located at 2 Massachusetts Avenue NE in Washington, D.C.
Greg Breeding served as art director and designer alongside Kyrie Johnson, while artist Sarah Cramer Shields photographed sugar cookies baked by Johnson for the final artwork. The stamps appear on alternating red and blue backgrounds throughout the booklet.
Attendees planning to join the family-friendly event are encouraged to register online ahead of time at usps.com/christmascookiesstamps. Visitors will be able to purchase the stamps and receive first-day-of-issue postmarks directly at the venue.
The release marks a continuation of contemporary holiday stamps issued by the Postal Service since 1962, following previous cookie-themed designs in 2005 and 2017. Stamps and related philatelic items will also be available at Post Office locations nationwide, through the USPS online store, and via phone order.
