Nickelodeon has designated July 14 as the inaugural SpongeBob Day, establishing an annual global celebration for the animated franchise. The chosen date aligns with the fictional birthday of the title character within the cartoon series.

The multiplatform event features a live broadcast on TikTok Live hosted by Tom Kenny, the voice actor for SpongeBob SquarePants. Scheduled for July 14 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the stream will feature behind-the-scenes commentary and three alternate endings for the episode titled Shanghaied.

The digital broadcast will also provide previews for upcoming holiday specials, including Merry Christmas, Mr. Plankton and a Patrick Star Show Halloween episode. Additionally, a new official YouTube channel dedicated to the character Patrick Star will launch on the same day.

The celebration extends to digital gaming with new in-game content drops for SpongeBob SquarePants Tower Defense on Roblox. In the music sector, a single titled Watch Out for That Rake will release on streaming platforms on July 9, ahead of a full album presale starting July 14.

Television programming changes include fan-favorite episode blocks on Nickelodeon beginning at 2:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time on July 14. Continuous broadcasting marathons are also scheduled for the Nicktoons and Nick Pluto channels.

Physical activations are planned for Nickelodeon resort properties in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, alongside the Nickelodeon Universe theme parks located at Mall of America and American Dream. The New Children’s Museum in San Diego will also open dedicated spaces starting July 11.
