Amy Grant launched Salt Lick Sessions’ new performance and conversation series, Songs of U.S., with a performance of James Taylor’s classic song “Carolina in My Mind” and an interview about music, memory, and American identity. The multi-genre project brings musicians together to reinterpret songs that shaped the cultural fabric of the United States.

The series marks America’s 250th anniversary. Variety noted that the project arrives amid ongoing national conversations about patriotism and identity, describing the series as offering a thoughtful approach to celebrating the anniversary milestone.

On June 9, the series will debut Grant’s performance of her original song “The 6th of January (Yasgur’s Farm)” from her album The Me That Remains. Variety previously recognized the track as a standout protest song of 2026.

“American music has always told the truth about who we are — the beauty, the heartbreak, the hope, the contradictions,” Grant shared. “These songs carry history, but they also keep evolving as each new voice brings their own experience and humanity to them.”

The summer lineup features artists reinterpreting works by writers such as Woody Guthrie, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, Beyoncé, Bill Withers, Roberta Flack, and John Denver. A session featuring Chance Emerson begins rolling out on June 10.

Upcoming performances include Grace Potter covering “This Land Is Your Land,” Corook singing “Mississippi Goddam,” and Mickey Guyton revisiting “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” The series will also feature Tiny Habits reimagining “Blowin’ in the Wind,” Joy Oladokun performing “Ain’t No Sunshine,” and Brittney Spencer interpreting “Killing Me Softly With His Song.”

Additional sessions scheduled for the summer rollout include Samara Joy, Old Crow Medicine Show, Trousdale, and Raye Zaragoza. The video sessions are broadcast via Salt Lick Sessions’ YouTube channel and social media platforms.
