Violet Grohl's Be Sweet to Me album

Violet Grohl released her debut studio album, Be Sweet To Me, through Auroura Records and Republic Records. The project was recorded at the Los Angeles home studio of producer Justin Raisen, who previously worked with artists such as Kim Gordon and Charli xcx.

The album’s sound draws inspiration from late 1980s and early 1990s alternative rock acts, including the Pixies, Soundgarden, and Cocteau Twins. Grohl and Raisen utilized a group of studio musicians assembled in the tradition of the 1960s and 1970s Wrecking Crew session players.

The songwriting process took place entirely within the studio environment. Grohl initiated sessions by sharing diverse inspiration playlists with Raisen that spanned trip hop, new wave, Scandinavian black metal, acoustic folk, and vocal jazz.

The album features the previously released singles “THUM,” “595,” and “Cool Buzz.” A new music video for the album track “Bug in the Cake,” directed by Nikki Milan Houston, launched alongside the full record.

Grohl is scheduled to make her television debut on June 3 as a musical guest on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Samuel Burgess-Johnson handled the art direction and design for the album’s packaging.

A North American headline tour begins with a sold-out performance tonight in Los Angeles. The tour continues across the East Coast with sold-out dates in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and New York, where Grohl will also perform an in-store set at Rough Trade NYC on June 1.

Following the club dates, Grohl will travel to Europe for festival appearances in August. She will return to the United States in September for performances at several major music festivals, including Shaky Knees in Atlanta, CBGB in New York, and All Things Go in the Washington, D.C. area.
