HBO releases teaser for Obama-Larry David comedy series ‘Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness’

HBO has released the first teaser and promotional images for its upcoming limited sketch comedy series, “Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness,” a high-profile collaboration between Larry David and Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground.
The seven-episode series is scheduled to premiere Friday, June 26, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available for streaming on Max.
The project began as an effort by the former president and first lady to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States. According to the network’s logline, the original intent was to celebrate the nation’s history — until the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” creator intervened with his own brand of social friction.
The series is written and executive produced by David and his long-time collaborator Jeff Schaffer, who also serves as director. Joining them as executive producers are Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Ethan Lewis and Vinnie Malhotra for Higher Ground.
While the full cast list remains under wraps, HBO confirmed the series will feature various actors from “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alongside a rotation of guest stars.
Higher Ground, founded by the Obamas, has previously focused on acclaimed documentaries and dramas, including the Academy Award-winning “American Factory” and the feature film “Leave the World Behind.” This series marks a notable foray into scripted sketch comedy for the production company.
Following the June premiere, new episodes will air weekly, concluding with a season finale on Aug. 7.
