Rolling Stones announce new album ‘Foreign Tongues’ for July release

The Rolling Stones announced Tuesday the upcoming release of a new studio album, Foreign Tongues, set to arrive July 10 through Polydor/Universal Music.
Band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood were scheduled to attend a media launch for the project in Brooklyn following the announcement. The 14-track collection serves as the follow-up to the group’s Grammy Award-winning 2023 album, Hackney Diamonds.
The announcement was accompanied by the digital release of the lead single, “In the Stars,” and the album’s opening track, “Rough and Twisted.”
Recorded in less than a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, the album reunites the band with producer Andrew Watt. The sessions feature core collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, and Steve Jordan, as well as a special appearance by the late Charlie Watts, recorded before his death in 2021.
“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,” Jagger said. “It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks, and we went as fast as we could.”
The album includes guest contributions from Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The cover artwork features a painting by American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn.
“The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds, and it was great to be working in London again,” Richards said. “It was a month of concentrated punch.”
