Season three of ‘House of the Dragon’ to premiere June 21 on HBO

The third season of the HBO Original drama series “House of the Dragon” will premiere Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the network announced Tuesday.

The eight-episode season will air weekly on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max, with the season finale scheduled for Aug. 9.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and chronicles the history of House Targaryen.

The season three cast includes returning stars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, and Tom Glynn-Carney. New and returning supporting cast members include Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, James Norton, Tom Bennett, Gayle Rankin, Abubakar Salim, and Tommy Flanagan.

The series is led by co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal, who executive produces alongside co-creator George R.R. Martin. Additional executive producers for the third season include Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.
