Suki Waterhouse announces new studio album ‘Loveland’

Indie pop artist Suki Waterhouse announced Tuesday that her new album, “Loveland,” is scheduled for release July 10 via Island Records. The singer-songwriter will offer a further preview of the project with the release of the album’s second single, “Tiny Raisin.“
The 14-track album explores the transition between past and present versions of identity. Waterhouse noted that the record was influenced by the contrast between her former self and her current life, specifically reflecting on the impact of motherhood.
“Loveland to me lives in the distance between a former self who felt most alive in romance, fantasy and momentum, and a present self reaching for something steadier, more intimate and more true,” Waterhouse said in a statement. “That split is deepened by motherhood, and by the strange feeling of becoming someone new while still carrying the shape of who you were before.”

To create the album, Waterhouse collaborated with a group of prominent producers and songwriters, including Aaron Dessner, Amy Allen, Joel Little, and Dan Wilson. Longtime collaborators Natalie Findlay and Jules Apollinaire also contributed to the project. The announcement follows the release of the lead single, “Back in Love,” which arrived earlier this month.
The upcoming record follows her sophomore effort, “Memoir of a Sparklemuffin,” which earned critical praise for its vulnerability and storytelling. SPIN characterized that release as an “important milestone” that solidified Waterhouse’s presence as a captivating artist.
Waterhouse is scheduled to perform new material from the album live this summer when she returns to the stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Additional tour dates are expected to be announced in the coming months.
