Finneas O’Connell scores ‘BEEF’ Season 2; original soundtrack arrives April 16

A24 Music will release the original soundtrack for the second season of the hit Netflix anthology series “BEEF” on April 16, featuring an original score by two-time Academy Award and 11-time Grammy winner Finneas O’Connell.
The announcement follows last week’s debut of the soundtrack’s lead single, “Vicious Thoughts,” which is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
O’Connell, who has achieved global acclaim for his work with his sister Billie Eilish as well as his recent score for the series “Disclaimer,” spent the last 12 months composing the music for the eight-episode season.
“I probably watched every scene 100 times while I scored the show, and I felt it every time,” O’Connell said. “True fan of this show, very honored and proud to be a part of it.”
The new season of the A24-produced series features a new cast and a new central conflict. The story follows a Gen-Z couple, played by Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton, who witness an alarming fight between their Millennial boss (Oscar Isaac) and his wife (Carey Mulligan), drawing them into a web of favors and coercion at an elitist country club.
Series creator Lee Sung Jin, who returns as showrunner and executive producer, said O’Connell was the “brilliant mind” behind much of the music in his personal life over the last decade.
“It’s an absolute honor to collaborate with him on the new season,” Lee said. “He has an incredible ability to make the darkest emotions sound so achingly beautiful.”
The first installment of “BEEF” was a critical juggernaut, winning eight Emmy Awards and three Golden Globes. The second season, which also stars Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho, premieres on Netflix on April 16 alongside the full soundtrack release.
The “BEEF” Season 2 original soundtrack is available for pre-save via A24 Music.
