Original film cast member Tom Felton has secured a final extension for his Broadway debut in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Playing the role of Draco Malfoy at the Lyric Theatre, Felton will now remain with the New York City production through January 3, 2027.
This run marks the first time an actor from the original Harry Potter film series has appeared in the theatrical production. Set 19 years after the events of the main series, the narrative follows adult versions of Draco, Harry, Ron, and Hermione as their own children enter Hogwarts.
Ticket prices for the Broadway show start at $80. Scheduled performance breaks for Felton include, September 14 to 20, October 12 to 18, and November 2.
The current stage company features John Skelley as Harry Potter, Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, and Emmet Smith as Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher and Daniel Fredrick star as Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, joined by Janae Hammond as Rose Granger-Weasley, Aidan Close as Scorpius Malfoy, and Kristen Martin as Delphi Diggory.
Additional cast members appearing in the play include Chadd Alexander, John Alix, Logan Becker, Darby Breedlove, Megan Byrne, James Cribbins, Ted Deasy, Gary-Kayi Fletcher, Dani Goldberg, Alexis Gordon, Caleb Hafen, Logan James Hall, Chance Marshaun Hill, Jamie Jackson, Jay Mack, Samaria Nixon-Fleming, Bradley Patchett, Alexandra Peter, Dan Plehal, Allie Re, Gabrielle Reid, Isaac Phaman Reynolds, Will Rhem Jr., Kiaya Scott, Maren Searle, Tom Stephens, Khadija Tariyan, Baylen Thomas, and Riley Thad Young.
Premiering in London in July 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child serves as the eighth official story in the franchise. The stage show has achieved more than $430 million in sales, sold over 3.5 million tickets on Broadway, and earned 60 major awards globally, including nine Laurence Olivier Awards and six Tony Awards.
Recognized by Guinness World Records as the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, the production is currently the third longest-running play on Broadway. Active productions are also staged in London, Hamburg, Tokyo, The Netherlands, and on a North American tour.
The play was written by Jack Thorne from an original story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, with direction by Tiffany. The creative team features movement by Steven Hoggett, set design by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music and arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison, music supervision and arrangements by Martin Lowe, and U.S. casting by Jim Carnahan, CSA.
