Seventeen-time Grammy Award winner Sting has released a new EP titled “Desert Rose Reimagined,” featuring contemporary remixes of his chart-topping world-beat anthem.

Released April 3 via UMe, the six-track collection includes new interpretations and extended mixes from Middle Eastern-American duo Bedouin and South African producers Zakes Bantwini and Darque. The project arrives as a fresh exploration of the 1999 hit, which originally bridged Western pop with Arabic and Algerian folk influences.

The lead remix by Bedouin—composed of Tamer Malki and Rami Abousabe—infuses the track with deep house rhythms and down-tempo grooves. The duo, known for their “SAGA” residency series, is scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival later this month.

“Channeling the cinematic spirit of the original, they seamlessly stretch the song’s soundscape,” the label said in a release.

The EP also features a contribution from Grammy-winning Afro-house pioneer Zakes Bantwini, whose rhythmic remix follows the recent release of his album “Echoes of Botanical Gardens.” Rounding out the collection is a remix by South African DJ and producer Darque, who brings a distinct electronic vision to the track.

The original “Desert Rose,” which featured Algerian raï artist Cheb Mami, was a standout single from Sting’s triple-platinum album Brand New Day. The song reached the top 10 on charts worldwide and remains one of Sting’s most-streamed works, surpassing 582 million views on YouTube.

The release of the “Reimagined” EP follows a series of expanded digital editions from Sting’s catalog, including the recent 30th-anniversary release of his 1996 album Mercury Falling.

Sting is managed by Martin Kierszenbaum of the Cherrytree Music Company. “Desert Rose Reimagined” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
