Ringo Starr released his 22nd solo studio album, “Long Long Road,” on Friday via UMe. The 10-track project marks his second collaboration with producer T Bone Burnett, following the success of last year’s country-influenced album, “Look Up.”

The album features a variety of high-profile guest performances, including collaborations with Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Sarah Jarosz. The title track, which features harmony vocals by Crow and Daniel Tashian, is accompanied by a sentimental music video directed by Francesca Gregorini. The video incorporates personal and never-before-seen photographs of Starr from throughout his life and career.

“We’re talking about this Long Long Road I’ve been on — and I’ve been thinking about the road I’ve taken,” Starr said. “Starting in Liverpool, being in several bands, then with The Beatles — all those stops on your walk of life, it’s so far out.”

Burnett, who co-wrote six of the album’s tracks, sought to blend Starr’s signature style with the energy of Nashville’s younger musical generation. “I’ve loved Ringo’s playing and his singing for my whole life,” Burnett stated. “Ringo Starr is a master musician and a recording artist of the highest caliber, and I wanted to surround him with these young masters.”

The album includes original material as well as a cover of the Bennie Benjamin and George David Weiss song “I Don’t See Me In Your Eyes Anymore,” previously recorded by Carl Perkins. All of Starr’s vocal and drum parts for the record were captured at his Roccabella West studio in Los Angeles.

Starr, a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and nine-time Grammy winner, will support the release with a spring tour alongside his All Starr Band. The tour is scheduled to begin May 28 and will conclude at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on June 14. This year marks Starr’s 37th year of touring with the All Starr Band format.
