Mike D 5D is set to release Thank You, the debut album from Mike D 5D, on August 28 via Capitol Records.
The album marks the first full-length release of new music from a Beastie Boys member since 2011’s Hot Sauce Committee Part 2.
The project follows earlier releases including “Switch Up” and “What We Got,” both of which previewed the album’s experimental direction. A new visualizer for “True Colors” has also been released alongside the announcement.
According to the release, Thank You was built through informal recording sessions that began at Mike D’s home studio. The process later expanded to include collaborators across multiple locations, including Carter Lang, Jared Solomon, Ging, Jason Lader, Eddie Ruscha, and others. Mike D’s sons, Skyler and Davis, were among the earliest collaborators involved.
The album is described as a collection of post-electronic grooves and layered production built around improvisation and collaboration. It features 13 tracks, including “Crypto,” “Secrets Pt. I,” “Secrets Pt. II,” and “Back To Start.”

Mike D commented on the creative process behind the album, noting the collaborative approach and informal structure of the sessions. He also reflected on the broader context of releasing music in what he described as a challenging cultural moment.
“It’s been so much fun making this music with people I love and I have grown to really appreciate in our collaboration,” Mike D said. “And I just hope it’s fun for others and not overly serious, because let’s be real, I’m releasing this music into a very strange and dark and power-fixated world that really devalues art and feelings and compassion and empathy and equality.”
The album artwork was created in collaboration with Can Can Press, Thad Higa, and Charles Deroyan, reflecting the project’s loose and collaborative structure.

Thank You was mixed by Derek “MixedByAli” Ali and mastered by Nicolas de Porcel.
Mike D 5D has been performing material from the album at a series of small, sold-out shows in non-traditional venues. Performances have taken place in Los Angeles, Malibu, South Pasadena, Brooklyn, and London, with additional dates planned.
The live band includes Mike D alongside Skyler and Davis, with Eddie Ruscha, Will Graefe, and Milo Ruscha also performing.
