Macomb and Forgottonia launch seasonal fall tourism and haunted history events

The Macomb Area Convention and Visitors Bureau announced its October schedule of fall tourism activities across the Unforgettable Forgottonia region of western Illinois. The lineup features haunted historical walking tours, seasonal agricultural farms, and local community festivals hosted throughout the month.

Haunted attractions in the area include the self-guided Haunted Macomb Trail, based on the research of late author Garret Moffett, alongside the Bushnell Haunted House. The seasonal haunted house operates on select October weekends, including Oct. 16–17, 23–24, and 30–31.

Additional historical and outdoor programming includes the Atkinson/McCord Cemetery Tour at Argyle Lake State Park on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Downtown Macomb will host the annual Moon Over Macomb Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 17, while Yesternight Pumpkin Farm remains open through Nov. 1.

Tourists can access self-guided maps, event schedules, and regional lodging information on the official Unforgettable Forgottonia website. Visitors to downtown Macomb can also access Macombopoly, a free interactive app-based game spanning 170,000 square feet of the historic courthouse square.

Forgottonia is a regional promotional identity representing Macomb and McDonough County in western Illinois. The regional tourism board coordinates economic development, heritage tourism, and community events across the district.
