JJ Hapgood general store in peru vermont

Leslie and Michael French have placed JJ Hapgood on the market after running the destination in Peru, Vermont. The location operates as a community gathering space, general store, and restaurant that incorporates music history throughout its physical layout.

The property features a private collection of music memorabilia and original concert posters from artists across multiple genres. Displayed items include a signed 1978 Bob Marley poster from the Greek Theatre, a Certified Guaranty Company graded Creedence Clearwater Revival poster from the Fillmore Auditorium, and a David Bowie concert poster from the Oakland Coliseum. The interior also displays concert assets celebrating Phish, the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, and Trey Anastasio.

In addition to its musical holdings, the Peru site served as a filming location for the 1987 feature film Baby Boom, which starred Diane Keaton. The historical connection to the motion picture adds another layer to the commercial establishment’s public history within the state.

The current owners are presently holding discussions with prospective buyers regarding the purchase of the building and business. Potential plans under consideration by interested parties include expanding the site’s live performance and event offerings, though no formal purchase contract has been signed.

JJ Hapgood continues daily business operations as an active retail and dining establishment while the selection process for new ownership remains ongoing. The sale includes the real estate, existing business identity, and associated cultural assets housed within the structure.
