The Idaho Potato Commission and Spud Daddy reclaimed the Guinness World Records title for the largest serving of French fries on Friday at Boise Potato Days in Boise, Idaho. The team transformed 1,700 pounds of raw Idaho potatoes into 1,474 pounds of fresh-cut fries, officially setting the new mark.

The record-setting effort required 50 people operating six commercial fryers to process and cook the potatoes on site. Official Guinness World Records adjudicator Michael Empric verified the final weight during the public event.

The achievement tops the previous record of 1,452.85 pounds set in India in 2018. Idaho originally held the title in 2014 with a 1,003-pound serving before the record moved to Greece in 2017 and subsequently to India.

Following the official weigh-in and verification ceremony, the 1,474 pounds of French fries were served free of charge to attendees present at Boise Potato Days. No public ticket purchase or admission fee was required to receive a portion of the record-setting dish.

The Idaho Potato Commission represents state growers and industry partners promoting Idaho potatoes nationwide. Spud Daddy and Potato Days founder Thomas Watson organized the record attempt alongside local event staff and commission representatives.
