Musician Bobby Weir will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his solo studio album Blue Mountain with a new vinyl reissue and an expanded digital deluxe release. The 2LP pressing of the original album on 180-gram black vinyl will be released on October 16 through Dead.net, followed by Blue Mountain: 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition on November 20 via Rhino and WMG.
The digital deluxe edition includes previously unreleased studio recordings from the original 2015 sessions as well as live performances from Weir’s fall 2016 Campfire Tour. To preview the reissue, a live recording of Bob Dylan’s “Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again” from a 2016 performance at the Saenger Theatre in Mobile, Alabama has been released on digital streaming services.
Co-produced by Weir and Josh Kaufman, Blue Mountain was originally released on September 30, 2016, as Weir’s first album of entirely original material in more than 30 years. The record features songwriting collaborations with Josh Ritter and backing performances from members of The National, drawing inspiration from traditional cowboy songs Weir encountered while working on a Wyoming ranch in his youth.

The 2016 Campfire Tour featured a backing group consisting of Bryan Devendorf, Scott Devendorf, Josh Kaufman, Steve Kimock, and Jon Shaw, with guest appearances by Aaron Dessner. Recordings from these tour dates make up the live portion of the upcoming anniversary edition.
Blue Mountain marked Weir’s first solo studio release since Heaven Help the Fool in 1978 and his first studio project since RatDog’s Evening Moods in 2000. Engineered by Dan Goodwin, the album was recorded in 2015 across locations on both coasts and includes tracks such as “Only a River,” “Gonesville,” and “Lay My Lily Down.”
