Susanna Hoffs will release a new album of original music titled The List on September 18. The project will be released through her own record label, Baroque Folk.
The 12-track album was recorded live in Hoffs’ Los Angeles home and produced alongside CJ Camerieri. The collection features musical collaborations with Rufus Wainwright, Dan Wilson, Edie Brickell, Greg Leisz, Ryan Lerman, Desure, Jesse Harris, Ny Oh, Grant Milliken, Spencer Zahn, and Larry Goldings.
The lead single from the album, titled “Casablanca”, was written with Wilson and Camerieri. The song was inspired by the film Casablanca and a 1988 meeting between Hoffs and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead in New Orleans.
The album concludes with the track “What Are Wings For”, written by Hoffs, Camerieri, and Brickell. The closing song was originally written for the musical adaptation of Hoffs’ debut novel, This Bird Has Flown.
Hoffs and her band will support the release with a tour across the United States. Scheduled performances include a five-night residency at Cafe Carlyle in New York City, an appearance at the Sea.Hear.Now Festival, and dates alongside Billy Idol.
