Snowflake Lane returns to Bellevue, Washington, for its 22nd year from Friday, Nov. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 24. Presented by The Bellevue Collection and the Kemper Freeman family, the complimentary nightly parade takes place at 7 p.m. along Bellevue Way between NE 4th and NE 8th Street, set between Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square.
The annual celebration features floats, sparkling lights, falling snow, and nearly 180 parade characters each night. Produced by Greg Thompson Productions, the performance cast includes local student dancers appearing as toy drummers, jingle belle dancers, snow princesses, color guards, polar bears, and Santa Claus.
The parade operates across 28 nights and relies on more than 55 snow machines that utilize over 850 gallons of snow throughout the season. Performers will also hand out more than 80,000 pieces of candy to attendees over the course of the event.
The Bellevue Collection will host additional holiday events alongside the parade, beginning with a 30-foot tree lighting ceremony at Bellevue Place Wintergarden following the Nov. 27 opening parade. Additional programming includes photo opportunities at Santa’s Snowflake Lane Factory, live local school choir and orchestra performances on select December dates, and an immersive cultural display in Bellevue Square Center Court.
Kemper Freeman Jr. launched Snowflake Lane in the early 2000s following trips to Fifth Avenue in New York City and the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. The event now draws nearly 400,000 visitors to Downtown Bellevue each holiday season.
