Singers and guitarists Duane Betts and Tab Benoit will join forces for a co-headline run called “The Southern Gentlemen Tour 2027.” Newly confirmed stops include Tipitina’s in New Orleans, Iron City in Birmingham, the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, the Georgia Theatre in Athens, the Capitol Theatre in Macon and Minglewood Hall in Memphis, among many others.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m. local time. Full details are available at duanebetts.com/tour.
Before the 2027 dates, Betts will tour through the end of the year with The Allman Betts Band, of which he is a founding member. He will also play select headline shows with his band, Palmetto Motel.
The tour follows Betts’ new album, Isle of Hope, which came out this past summer on Sun Records. It is his first project with the label and was produced by Dave Cobb. Betts made the album after losing his father and mentor, Dickey Betts, and it reflects on time and mortality. Outlets including Premier Guitar, Forbes, Guitar World and No Depression have praised the record.
Isle of Hope follows Betts’ 2023 solo debut, Wild & Precious Life, which featured Derek Trucks, Marcus King and Nicki Bluhm. Before going solo, Betts founded The Allman Betts Band with Devon Allman in 2018. The group has released two studio albums, Down to the River and Bless Your Heart, and hosts an annual Allman Betts Family Revival celebrating the music of The Allman Brothers Band. Past special guests at the event have included Jimmy Hall, Robert Randolph, Jason Isbell, Charlie Starr and Marcus King.
One note: the release refers to a complete tour itinerary “below,” but it didn’t come through in what you pasted. I left out specific dates for that reason.
