Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Peter Frampton will release Carry the Light, his first album of all-new material in 16 years, on May 15 via UMe.

The album, co-written and produced with his son Julian Frampton, features a lineup of notable collaborators, including Sheryl Crow, Bill Evans, H.E.R., Tom Morello, Graham Nash and Benmont Tench.

“The Carry the Light album is the first new music from me in 16 years. It was one of my most enjoyable projects ever,” Frampton said. “I got to work with my son Julian—writing and producing together. A first of many for us I’m sure.”

Ahead of the release, Frampton has shared the single “Buried Treasure,” which features Tench, a member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. The track serves as a tribute to Tom Petty and his longtime SiriusXM radio show, incorporating lyrics made entirely from Petty’s song titles.

Carry the Light reflects Frampton’s personal and artistic evolution, shaped by recent years and his collaboration with his son. The album’s title symbolizes wisdom and perseverance, themes that run throughout the project. Engineer and co-producer Chuck Ainlay praised the record, calling it potentially “the best album Peter’s ever made.”

The album will be available in multiple formats, including CD, vinyl and digital editions, with select versions offered in high-resolution audio and Dolby Atmos. A limited-edition vinyl release will also be available through Frampton’s official store and select retailers.

Frampton’s return follows renewed recognition of his legacy. His landmark 1976 live album, Frampton Comes Alive!, recently marked its 50th anniversary and remains one of the best-selling live albums of all time, with nearly 20 million copies sold worldwide.

Over a career spanning more than six decades, Frampton has earned a Grammy Award for Fingerprints, induction into the Musicians Hall of Fame, and, most recently, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.
