Songwriter Bernie Taupin will perform live at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, November 7. The appearance marks his first public musical performance in nearly 30 years and includes two show times at 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. alongside artist Carrie Underwood.
For both performances, Taupin will take the stage with backing band The Tennessee Stone Cutters, featuring guitarist Adam Wright, bassist Glen Worf, and keyboardist Michael Rojas. His daughter, Georgey Devon Taupin, will also join the performance for the song “One Hundred Ways,” which appears on his forthcoming solo project.
The live appearance follows the October 23 release of The Sea Has No Mercy through Vertigo Records and MCA Nashville. Recorded in Nashville with producer Frank Liddell, the 10-track collection represents Taupin’s first self-written solo album in almost 40 years and includes guest vocal contributions from Brandi Carlile, Lee Ann Womack, the Jeremy Jordan Ensemble, and percussionist Jay Bellerose.
Admission to both the 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. evening performances at the Grand Ole Opry House is currently on sale to the general public. The physical album release of The Sea Has No Mercy will be available in vinyl, compact disc, and digital formats.
Taupin built his career as a lyricist and collaborator, recently appearing at the 2026 Americanafest for a keynote discussion alongside Brandi Carlile and presenting at the Americana Honors and Awards at the Ryman Auditorium. The new musical material was developed following the publication of his 2023 memoir, Scattershot, and an ongoing documentary project.
