George Michael’s landmark 1987 debut solo album, Faith, is set to be re-released on vinyl for the first time in more than a decade, including limited-edition variants in red-and-black marble and picture disc formats, the singer’s estate and Sony Music announced Thursday. The release is scheduled for Feb. 20, 2026, with pre-orders available now through the official George Michael store.
Written, arranged, produced and performed almost entirely by Michael, Faith propelled the then-24-year-old singer to international superstardom. The album produced four U.S. number-one singles — “Faith,” “Father Figure,” “One More Try” and “Monkey” — making Michael the only British male solo artist to achieve that feat from a single album on the Billboard Hot 100, a record that remains unmatched.
Faith earned a Grammy Award for Album of the Year, three American Music Awards and sold more than 25 million copies worldwide, topping charts in over 10 countries. Its title track, recognizable for its signature guitar riff and leather-jacket music video, became an enduring symbol of the MTV generation.
Critics praised the album for its blend of soul, R&B and rock, as well as Michael’s songwriting, vocal range and meticulous production. Tracks such as “Father Figure” and “One More Try” demonstrated the singer’s ability to craft emotionally resonant pop that transcended genre conventions.
The new vinyl editions were produced with an emphasis on sustainability. Pressed on bio-based PVC, the packaging is made from FSC-certified paper and cardboard, and vegetable-based inks were used for printing. For each album pressed at Optimal Media in Germany, a contribution is made to a local nature conservation project. The CD edition also features recycled polycarbonate and eco-friendly packaging, produced at Sonopress with reduced energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
“Few albums have defined an era and redefined a generation of pop music quite like Faith,” the announcement said. “Nearly four decades later, its influence continues to resonate across music, fashion and culture, a testament to the artistry and vision of one of the world’s most beloved performers.”
Limited-edition vinyl variants include a picture disc, red-and-black marble vinyl, and standard 1LP and 2LP black vinyl editions with audio Blu-Ray.
Faith’s reissue is expected to appeal to both longtime fans and collectors, reaffirming the album’s place as a cultural milestone and a lasting symbol of George Michael’s enduring legacy.
