DZONE Skydiving in Parma, Idaho hosted a series of record-setting high-altitude jumps on July 25, 2026. Despite ground temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the dropzone ran two specialized flights equipped with oxygen systems.
The aircraft reached 17,999 feet above mean sea level, reaching the maximum legal altitude ceiling permitted under Visual Flight Rules. The high-altitude flights allowed local skydivers to set a slate of preliminary Idaho state skydiving records in a single morning.
The athletic achievements included significant milestones in wingsuit performance, speed, and freefall duration. Wingsuit flyer Elijah Weber logged a flight distance of nearly six miles that lasted three minutes and 30 seconds, while Slade Sokol set an Idaho speed record reaching 198.9 mph.
Skydivers Caitlin Cross, Dan Melody, Slade Sokol, and Susan Umberger set absolute altitude marks on the jumps. Additional individual records for freefall time and distance were logged by Jordan Kerr and Susan Umberger across general and female categories.
Official ratifications for the recorded marks are being finalized by United States Parachute Association judges Abbie Mashaal and Jenifer Gordon. The recent achievements build on previous state records established at the dropzone, including marks for the largest canopy formation and largest wingsuit formation.
