New Prince album Timeless to span four decades of unreleased music
The Prince Estate, in partnership with Legacy Recordings, has announced the upcoming release of a new posthumous album titled Timeless. Scheduled to arrive on August 28, 2026, the project features 10 rare and previously unreleased recordings sourced from the artist’s legendary Vault.
The compilation is the first Prince release curated to span every major era of his career, bringing together music tracked between 1977 and 2016. The album traces his evolution from early teenage studio sessions in Minneapolis to one of his final recorded performances.
Alongside the album announcement, the estate released the new single “Stone.” Written by Sandra St. Victor, Tom Hammer, and Jules Van Even, the previously unreleased track was recorded in the spring of 1995.
The album was also previewed earlier this year on April 2 with the release of “With This Tear,” which was originally recorded at Paisley Park in November 1991. Prince produced, arranged, composed, and performed every instrument on that track.
Attendees at Prince Celebration 2026, which runs from June 3–7, 2026, will receive the first opportunity to preview the album. The event takes place across Paisley Park and downtown Minneapolis, serving as the official launch platform for the project with scheduled listening sessions and archival presentations.
A special event is scheduled at The Armory in Minneapolis on Friday, June 5. The presentation will feature appearances by members of the New Power Generation (NPG), as well as Bobby Z and Lisa Coleman from The Revolution.
Marking the 10th anniversary year of the celebration event, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey officially proclaimed June 1–7, 2026, as “Prince Celebration Week” in the city. As part of the municipal recognition, the Minneapolis skyline will be illuminated in purple on June 6.
Timeless is currently available for pre-order and pre-save across digital platforms. The physical release will include standard compact disc, standard black vinyl, and a direct-to-consumer exclusive limited-edition purple marble vinyl configuration.
