The Book of Mormon original cast reunites for 15th anniversary performance at 2026 Tony Awards
The 79th annual Tony Awards will feature a special tribute performance to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the musical Chicago. Queen Latifah, an Academy Award nominee for the film adaptation, will join ceremony host Pink for the performance.
The tribute lineup includes Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alex Newell, Adrienne Warren, Julianne Hough, Whitney Leavitt, and Dylan Mulvaney. Chicago has maintained a continuous presence on Broadway since 1996.
The original cast of The Book of Mormon will also reunite on stage to mark the show’s 15th anniversary on Broadway. Nominees Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, Rory O’Malley, and winner Nikki M. James are scheduled to perform. Show creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez will introduce the anniversary segment.
The main broadcast line-up includes performances from several other productions. Viewers can expect numbers from The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titaníque, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), CATS: The Jellicle Ball, Ragtime, and Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show. Organizers plan to announce additional performances later this week.
The ceremony takes place Sunday, June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The live broadcast runs from 8:00 to 11:00 PM ET (5:00 to 8:00 PM PT) on the CBS Television Network. It will also stream live for Paramount+ Premium subscribers, while Essential-tier subscribers can access the program on-demand the following day.
An official pre-show, titled The Tony Awards: Act One, will stream for free on Pluto TV from 6:35 to 8:00 PM ET. Hosts Laura Benanti and Tituss Burgess will oversee the pre-show broadcast, which includes exclusive content and the presentation of the first round of awards.
The event is a production of Tony Award Productions, which operates as a joint venture between the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League. Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall, and Jack Sussman are producing the telecast, with Kapoor and Levine Hall acting as co-showrunners.
