TCM to celebrate Marilyn Monroe centennial and Steven Spielberg in June lineup

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) announced its June programming schedule, headlined by a centennial celebration for Marilyn Monroe, a guest appearance by Steven Spielberg, and a comprehensive film noir series.
To honor what would have been Monroe’s 100th birthday, the network will feature her as the “Star of the Month.” Programming will air the first three Monday nights of June, showcasing iconic films such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Some Like It Hot, and The Misfits.
On June 9, filmmaker Steven Spielberg will join the network to co-host a lineup of his own work, including Close Encounters of the Third Kind, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and Minority Report. The appearance aligns with the release of his latest project, Decision Day.
The network will also launch “Summer of Darkness: Eddie Muller’s Top 25” on June 5. Curated by the “Czar of Noir,” the weekly Friday night event features genre staples like The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity, paired with late-night neo-noir titles such as The Long Good Friday.
Other programming highlights for June include:
- Mel Brooks’ 100th Birthday (June 28): A marathon of the filmmaker’s classics, including Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.
- TCM Spotlight: Disaster Films: A collection of 1970s favorites, including The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno.
- Pride Programming (June 29): A night dedicated to LGBTQ+ cinema and landmark independent films.
- Gen X Night (June 11): A showcase of defining era films such as Do the Right Thing and Reality Bites.
The month will also feature a three-night tribute to director George Roy Hill and a “Goth Gardens” evening on June 2, featuring author Felicia Feaster. Detailed daily schedules and additional programming information can be found at TCM.com.
