HBO Max announces May lineup featuring Jason Momoa, USMNT documentary, and ‘Wuthering Heights’

HBO Max has unveiled its programming slate for May 2026, headlined by the second season of a Jason Momoa docuseries, a comprehensive look at the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team, and the streaming debut of Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights.”
The month begins with the May 1 release of Fennell’s interpretation of “Wuthering Heights,” starring Margot Robbie as Cathy and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff. Other major film additions include “Greenland 2: Migration” on May 8, featuring Gerard Butler, and the A24 film “The Moment,” starring Charli xcx and Alexander Skarsgård, which arrives May 29 alongside the Allison Janney-led original film “Miss You, Love You.”
On the unscripted side, the Max Original series “On The Roam” returns for its six-episode second season on May 14. The series follows Jason Momoa as he travels across the country to engage with diverse craftspeople and artisans. Additionally, the platform will debut the five-part sports documentary series “U.S. Against The World: Four Years With The Men’s National Soccer Team” starting May 12, providing exclusive access to players like Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
New series content includes “Song of the Samurai,” an eight-episode drama set at the end of Japan’s Edo period, which premieres May 9. The show explores the lives of the Shinsengumi, the historic samurai force tasked with defending Kyoto. On May 22, the service will release “Josh Johnson: Symphony,” a comedy special filmed at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles covering themes of family and relationships.
The documentary lineup is highlighted by the May 22 conclusion of “The Yogurt Shop Murders.” The fifth episode, titled “The End of Wondering,” details a sudden break in a 34-year-old cold case involving the 1991 deaths of four teenage girls in Austin, Texas. The resolution, verified through new DNA technology, reportedly links the crime to a known serial killer active across multiple states in the 1990s.
Additional May releases include “The A List: 15 Stories From Asia And Pacific Diasporas” on May 13, featuring interviews with figures such as Sandra Oh, and the Mubi film “Lurker,” starring Théodore Pellerin and Archie Madekwe, on May 15. The streaming service will continue to roll out weekly episodes for its various series throughout the month.
