Nine Inch Nails releases ‘Nine Inch Noize’ collaborative album following Coachella showcase

Nine Inch Nails released its new collaborative album, Nine Inch Noize, today via Interscope Records, marking a formal expansion of the band’s recent electronic work with Boys Noize.
The project follows the group’s “Peel It Back” tour, which featured specialized interludes where Trent Reznor and company were joined by Boys Noize on a secondary stage to reimagine select tracks. The new album includes reworkings of nine Nine Inch Nails songs—including “Closer” and the Grammy-winning “AS ALIVE AS YOU NEED ME TO BE”—alongside “Parasite” by Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels project.
“The creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers and TRON scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live,” Reznor said in a statement. “The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.”

The announcement comes as the group prepares to return to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this Saturday, April 18, for a set at the Sahara stage. Reznor clarified that the Coachella performance is a standalone event rather than a tour announcement, noting that he intends to begin work on new Nine Inch Nails music this coming Monday.
The album features a live configuration including Mariqueen Maandig and was recorded in various locations during the tour, ranging from traditional studios to hotels and planes.
Founded in 1988, Nine Inch Nails was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross have also become prominent film composers, winning two Academy Awards and an Emmy for their score work.
