VH1 will premiere “America’s Funniest People,” a new 12-episode comedy competition series starring comedian Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams-Lee, on Monday, Nov. 16. The network announced the premiere Oct. 28. Each episode brings viral internet moments to television as three content creators compete for a cash prize.
The series is produced by V10 Entertainment, the team behind “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” It features savage jokes, wild stunts, outrageous pranks, questionable decisions, and other social media moments viewers may not believe someone actually posted. Ms. Pat brings her fearless humor to the competition.
Two back-to-back episodes will air at 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on VH1 for the premiere. New episodes will continue to air back-to-back every Monday at the same times.
“I love that America’s Funniest People is a real clip show with a whole lot of Ms. Pat in it,” Ms. Pat said. “It’s funny, and I get to do what I do best – say what everybody else is thinking.” Josh Vodnoy, co-head of global licensing and distribution at V10 Entertainment, called her “a force of nature.”
The premiere adds to Ms. Pat’s growing relationship with Paramount. She returns to BET for the sixth season of the multi-Emmy-nominated sitcom “The Ms. Pat Show” and the fourth season of the courtroom series “Ms. Pat Settles It.” Both fall under her expanded exclusive overall deal with BET Studios, which covers producing, writing, and performing across BET and Paramount platforms.
Ms. Pat’s other credits include the Netflix stand-up special Y’All Wanna Hear Something Crazy?, directed by Robert Townsend. She also hosts the podcast “The Patdown” and the cooking show “Whiskin’ It All with Ms. Pat.” “The Ms. Pat Show,” produced by Lee Daniels and Brian Grazer, earned BET its first Emmy recognition with four nominations.
“America’s Funniest People” is executive produced by Williams-Lee, John Stevens, Carter Skeath and Rick De Oliveira. Saterah Moore serves as co-executive producer.
VH1 is part of BET Media Group, a division of Skydance TV that serves Black audiences through brands including BET, BET Her and BET Studios.
