Rock band Shinedown debuts new album Ei8ht after record-breaking singles run

Shinedown officially released its new studio album, Ei8ht, today through Atlantic Records. The arrival of the album follows a string of pre-release singles that generated over 91 million streams across digital platforms.
The track listing features several songs that previously arrived on the charts, including “Dance, Kid, Dance,” “Killing Fields,” “Searchlight,” “Outlaw,” and “Three Six Five.” The collection also includes the track “Safe And Sound,” which recently became the band’s 23rd number-one song on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and 25th number-one on the Mediabase Active Rock chart.
Bassist and co-songwriter Eric Bass produced the album at his Big Animal Studio located in Charleston. Frontman Brent Smith noted that the tracks were written to be accessible to a broad audience, focusing on universal human experiences and emotional honesty.
The release comes during a busy year of performances for the four-piece group, which consists of Smith, Bass, guitarist Zach Myers, and drummer Barry Kerch. Shinedown recently performed on the grand finale of American Idol and played a headlining set at the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival.
The band will support the new material on its upcoming Dance, Kid, Dance Act II World Tour. The tour includes more than 50 dates across 11 countries, covering North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
As part of the tour, the group will donate $1 from every ticket sold to City of Hope, a cancer research and treatment organization. Shinedown has now sold 10 million albums worldwide and accumulated over 8.3 billion global streams across its career catalog.
