Three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her Broadway debut next week, stepping into the role of Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical for a limited eight-week engagement.
The Houston rapper and actress will begin performances March 24 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, with her run scheduled through May 17.
Her casting marks a historic first for the production, as she becomes the first female-identifying performer to portray Zidler in any staging of the musical worldwide.
Based on Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film, the stage adaptation has become one of Broadway’s biggest modern successes. The production won 10 Tony Awards in 2021, including best musical, and has been seen by more than 12 million people across multiple international productions.
Directed by Alex Timbers, with a book by John Logan, the musical features choreography by Sonya Tayeh and music supervision by Justin Levine. The production blends more than a century of popular music into a contemporary theatrical spectacle.
The Broadway run of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” is scheduled to conclude July 26, bringing an end to its celebrated run in New York.
Tickets for Megan Thee Stallion’s limited engagement are available at the theater box office and online.
