The original mosquito in amber prop featured in Jurassic Park sold for $403,200 at auction on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The sale was held as part of Propstore’s Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles.
The screen-matched fossil prop appeared in the opening mine sequence of the 1993 film. The auction marked the first time the item was offered for public sale, leading a first-day total of $7.2 million across 296 television and film memorabilia lots.
Other major film props sold during the opening session included a Starfleet Type-2 Phaser from Star Trek: The Original Series for $315,000. John Travolta’s white suit from Saturday Night Fever brought $277,200, while a Christopher Reeve Superman costume fetched $233,100.
Additional top sales featured Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man Mark 46 upper body armor from Captain America: Civil War and Keanu Reeves’ complete costume from The Matrix Reloaded, which each sold for $138,600. Frank the Rabbit’s costume from Donnie Darko brought $126,000, and Doc Holliday’s whiskey cup from Tombstone sold for $119,700.
Items from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Edward Scissorhands, The Fifth Element, and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone also closed during the first session. The four-day auction event continues in Los Angeles through August 29 with online and phone bidding options.
