Andy Grammer released his sixth studio album, Big Stupid Heart, on Friday, Oct. 16, via S-Curve Records and Hollywood Records. He marked the release with his Grand Ole Opry debut that night in Nashville.

The 13-track album is a joyful, sincere defense of optimism. It explores the courage it takes to stay vulnerable, connected and open-hearted after life has given reason to close off. The focus track is “Don’t Want to Fall in Love.”

“Somewhere along the way, we decided that being cynical makes you smart and being sincere makes you a little bit of an idiot,” Grammer said. He said the album is for anyone “who’s been through enough to know better but keeps recklessly loving anyway.”

The album builds on sweeping pop arrangements, choral vocals, soaring hooks and a cello-driven sound. It examines grief, family, romantic love, resilience and connection through one idea: choosing love even when you know what it can cost. It follows Monster, his 2024 album about confronting anger and grief.

Several songs have personal origins. “Best Hearts” grew out of a voicemail a mother sent to his podcast, Showing Up With Andy Grammer, about her son comforting another patient while receiving treatment for his own mental health struggles. “All I Want Is You” is a reminder that his wife and daughters are his “north star,” and “Mysterious” reflects on discovering new sides of his wife after 15 years together.

Grammer also had a busy week leading up to the release. He performed “All I Want Is You” on Live with Kelly and Mark. He headlined Susan G. Komen’s Party in Pink Gala in New York City on Oct. 14. He also performed “Honey, I’m Good” with the Savannah Bananas at the Banana Bowl at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 10.

Grammer will hit the road next for Greater Than Pt. II: A One Man Show, starting Nov. 3 in Nashua, New Hampshire. The solo show blends his biggest songs with candid storytelling and audience interaction. Tour dates and tickets are available at AndyGrammer.com.

Grammer has more than four billion career artist streams and eight gold and platinum certifications. His hits include “Keep Your Head Up,” “Honey, I’m Good,” “Fresh Eyes” and “Don’t Give Up On Me.”
