NYC-bred rock band Nicotine Dolls has released “Here to California,” the latest single and music video from the group’s upcoming self-titled sophomore album. The project is set for release on October 23 through BMG.
Co-produced by frontman Sam Cieri and producer Marti Frederiksen, the new track features guitar work from John Newsome and drumming by Abel Tabares. Written alongside songwriter Desmond Child, the song focuses on the theme of attempting to save a troubled relationship by relocating to an idealized destination.
The accompanying music video features a 1971 Ford Mustang convertible and was filmed across locations stretching from Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon to Santa Monica Beach. The single was originally written under the title “Waiting for California.”
Prior to forming the group in 2018, Cieri busked in the New York City subway for nearly three years before landing the lead role in the musical Once. He later worked multiple jobs to fund the band’s initial recordings and tours as the group built its audience.
To create the new self-titled record, the band reconfigured its lineup, scrapped a previously completed full-length album, and started fresh after signing with BMG. The upcoming 12-track release serves as the follow-up to their debut album, An Attempt at Romantic.
The group is scheduled to perform at the Blue Stone Arts & Music Festival in Sandy Springs, Georgia, on September 25 before beginning a European and United Kingdom tour in October.
