The Broadway production of Chicago has announced a special one-night-only event featuring television and stage personality Derek Hough. On Monday, July 20, the Emmy Award winner will deliver the opening monologue for the long-running musical during the 7:00 p.m. performance.
Following the presentation, audience members with tickets to the Monday evening show are invited to remain in the theater for a post-performance talkback. The discussion will feature Hough alongside multi-instrumentalist and performer Mark Ballas, who recently concluded a record-breaking four-week run starring as Billy Flynn in the production.
Both performers share history as professional dancers and champions on the ABC series Dancing with the Stars, where Hough earned six mirror ball trophies and Ballas won three titles. The two also completed early theatrical training together at the Italia Conti performing arts school in London, England.
Hough currently serves as a judge on Dancing with the Stars and hosts the television program Extra, with additional stage credits including Footloose in the West End. Ballas, who splits his time between New York City and Los Angeles, performs in the indie music duo Alexander Jean and recently joined the cast of The Traitors US.
The current Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning musical revival includes Krysta Rodriguez as Roxie Hart, Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, and Matteo Lane as Billy Flynn. The production is currently playing at the Ambassador Theatre on West 49th Street, with tickets available through the official show website.
