Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store has secured the No. 4 position in the USA TODAY 10Best national buffet rankings. This achievement marks the fourth consecutive year the establishment has placed within the top 10 nationwide, and its second consecutive year holding the fourth spot.
The national dining award recognizes 10 buffet restaurants across the United States for providing food variety and quality at a fixed price. Industry culinary and travel experts select the initial nominees before the public determines the final rankings through a nationwide reader vote.
Located at Casey Jones Village in Jackson, Tennessee, the third-generation, family-owned business operates as a Southern buffet restaurant and tourism attraction. The company was founded in May 1965 and reached its 60th year of operations in 2025.
The restaurant features a Southern-Soul comfort food menu served inside a general store setting. Regular buffet items include fried chicken, fried catfish, house-smoked meats, turnip greens, white beans, redskin mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes.
The broader 30-acre Casey Jones Village property includes the Casey Jones Museum, the Dixie Café takeout and drive-thru, a retail gift shop, and a mini-golf course. President Brooks Shaw credited the national recognition to the business’s staff members and the multi-generational regional and traveling visitors.
The local business also maintains a regional second-chance hiring program that offers steady employment to individuals in recovery. Additionally, Shaw maintains community involvement through positions on the Tennessee Hospitality and Tourism Association and the Tennessee Tourism Committee boards.
