Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa will host a two-day Independence Day weekend event titled A Soaring Salute in Galena, Illinois. Scheduled for July 3 and July 4, the patriotic celebration is designed to support the Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States. Financial proceeds raised from designated holiday activities will benefit the nonprofit organization, which transports veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit national military memorials.
The festival schedule begins on Friday, July 3 at the resort’s North Course property with the Firecracker 5K and 10K Run and Walk alongside a Kids Sparkler Sprint. The morning lineup includes a specialized breakfast gathering followed by a formal Presentation of Colors coordinated by the Galena American Legion and VFW Post 2665. The morning activities conclude with an aerial parachute demonstration performed by the Team Fastrax skydiving group.
Throughout the opening day, members of The Secondary Infantry Division World War II Reenactors will manage a living history encampment on the resort grounds. The educational installation will feature restored military transport vehicles, historical equipment displays, and interactive instructional presentations. Resort general manager Steve Geisz stated that the combined programming was organized to provide regional families an opportunity to study national history while supporting veterans.
The afternoon schedule on July 3 features the Fourth Annual Honor Flight Golf Scramble on the local course. The opening day itinerary finishes with a regional vehicular exhibition titled the Stars and Stripes Jeep Showcase located near the Highlands Restaurant. Most public events during the weekend remain free of charge, though the golf scramble requires a separate registration process managed through the resort event staff.
On Saturday, July 4, the holiday programming moves to the Shenandoah Riding Center for an afternoon family presentation. The facility will host pony rides, wagon rides, a children’s petting zoo, balloon artists, and bounce houses. The entertainment schedule features a live performance by the Midwest Renegades group alongside live musical selections provided by the band Ten Gallon Hat.
