Violet Grohl releases new single ‘Cool Buzz,’ announces debut album and tour

Violet Grohl released her latest single, “Cool Buzz,” on Monday, a “jagged and snarling” track that serves as the final preview of her debut album, Be Sweet To Me, arriving May 29 via Auroura Records and Republic Records.
The single, which Grohl describes as a critique of “moral inconsistencies” within the punk scene, arrives ahead of a music video directed by Niki Milan Houston, scheduled for release this Friday, May 1.
“‘Cool Buzz’ is about poking fun at moral inconsistencies in punk guys who preach progressive politics, but then in their own musical spaces won’t let women have a chance,” Grohl said of the track.

The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Justin Raisen, known for his work with Kim Gordon and Charli XCX. Raisen utilized a rotating group of musicians for the sessions, modeled after the legendary “Wrecking Crew” session players of the 1960s and ’70s.
Grohl cited late ’80s and early ’90s alternative music as a primary influence for the project, specifically noting artists such as the Pixies, Björk, PJ Harvey, and Alice in Chains.
“There’s something so powerful about that period of music, from the messaging to the visuals, it’s authentic and raw,” Grohl said.
The announcement also included Grohl’s first-ever headlining tour dates. The initial East Coast run is scheduled for this summer, with stops in New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. Tickets for the tour went on sale Monday afternoon.
Be Sweet To Me follows a string of previously released singles, including “THUM,” “Applefish,” and “595.” Grohl also recently participated in Record Store Day on April 18, releasing a 7-inch vinyl featuring the David Lynch-inspired track “What’s Heaven Without You.”
The new album will be available in multiple vinyl formats, including a standard black edition, a “blueberry jam” version for independent retailers, and an ivory variant exclusive to the artist’s official store. Click here to pre-order/pre-save.
