British pop-rock legends Squeeze have released “You Get the Feeling,” an acoustic, atmospheric new song offering the first glimpse into Trixies, one of the most anticipated albums of 2026.

The track serves as an evocative introduction to Trixies, Squeeze’s first album in eight years — and, remarkably, the first they ever wrote. The collection was originally penned in 1974 by teenage band founders Chris Difford, then 19, and Glenn Tilbrook, then just 16, at the very beginning of their songwriting partnership.

Set within the imagined world of a fictional nightclub called Trixies, the album unfolds as a series of character-driven stories. Though the songs predate Squeeze’s celebrated catalog — including “Up the Junction,” “Tempted,” “Cool for Cats,” “Another Nail in My Heart,” and “Labelled With Love” — they offer a rare window into the band’s creative origins.

“At the time, our songwriting ambition outpaced our musical ability,” Difford said. “These were songs we simply didn’t yet have the experience to record properly.”

Now, five decades later, Squeeze are revisiting the material with the benefit of experience earned over hundreds of performances since reuniting in 2007. Tilbrook noted that “You Get the Feeling” has undergone a long evolution. “The original version was more like an old blues song,” he said. “It took me 50 years to figure out how to do it justice.”

Trixies arrives as a full-circle moment for Squeeze, whose career has included world tours, festival headline sets, a Mojo Icon Award, and a 2008 Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music. With “You Get the Feeling,” the band invites listeners back to where it all began — finally realized as it was always meant to be heard.
