Foo Fighters have announced the release of their 12th studio album, Your Favorite Toy, due out April 24, and unveiled the project’s lead single and title track, marking the band’s first new music of 2026.
“Your Favorite Toy” introduces a sharper, darker edge to the band’s sound, pairing jagged guitar lines and ominous keyboard accents with a relentless rhythmic drive. Frontman Dave Grohl delivers a sardonic vocal performance on the song’s hook-laden chorus, signaling a tonal shift while remaining unmistakably Foo Fighters.
Grohl said the track set the creative direction for the album after more than a year of experimentation. “‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” he said. “The day it took shape, I knew we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”
Preceded by the title track and 2025’s “Asking for a Friend,” Your Favorite Toy was recorded at the band’s home studio and co-produced by Foo Fighters and Oliver Roman. Roman also engineered the album, which was mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent. The release will be issued via Roswell Records/RCA Records.
The 10-track album includes “Caught in the Echo,” “Of All People,” “Window,” “If You Only Knew,” “Spit Shine,” “Unconditional,” “Child Actor,” “Amen, Caveman,” and “Asking for a Friend.”
The album’s release coincides with Foo Fighters’ upcoming Take Cover world tour, launching June 10 at Unity Arena in Oslo. The tour follows U.S. festival headline appearances at Welcome to Rockville and BottleRock.
Foo Fighters’ current lineup includes Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Ilan Rubin.
