Old Forester has introduced the Tribute Series, a new annual release that debuts with a 12-year-old bourbon bottled at 115 proof. It is available beginning Oct. 15 in limited quantities at select retailers nationwide. The suggested retail price is $299.99.

The bourbon comes in a collectible bottle inspired by Old Forester’s historic holiday decanter collection. The company introduced the decanters in 1950 and released them annually from 1954 through 1969. The new bottle is made of architectural glass with vertical facets, metallic accents and a metallic stopper engraved with the brand’s historic quality statement.

The release blends Old Forester’s highest age-stated stock rather than using single-barrel or single-lot selections. Future releases will be bottled between 110 and 125 proof. The company describes aromas of caramel, leather, golden raisins and dark cherries. Flavors include cherry, candied walnuts, cinnamon and cardamom, with a finish of toasted oak, peppercorn, cherry preserves and black tea.

Caleb Trigo, assistant master distiller, said the series honors the craftsmanship and innovation that have defined Old Forester for generations. The company says the series highlights its history of firsts, including its first twice-barreled expression and its heat-cycled maturation.

Old Forester, based in Louisville, Kentucky, calls itself America’s first bottled bourbon. The company has more than 150 years of bourbon-making history.
