Melanie C, the former Spice Girls member, released her new single “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” Friday, the second track from her forthcoming ninth studio album, Sweat, due May 1.

The single, co-written and recorded in Stockholm with Klas Åhlund and Nea, blends shimmering synths with club-ready beats. Melanie C described the track as a “tongue-in-cheek look on taking risks and trusting yourself to take that leap anyway.”

The new song follows the release of Sweat’s title track, which marked a return to dance-inspired music for the singer, DJ and performer. Melanie C said the album is a celebration of joy, movement and community, reflecting her evolution from a teenage raver in Spain to a global pop icon and Ibiza DJ.

“I’ve done a lot of soul-searching,” she said. “Now I just want to have some fun and get people dancing again.”

The single arrives amid a busy period for Melanie C, who recently headlined events including ABC Sydney New Year’s Eve, New York’s Jingle Ball, and appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and Good Morning America. She is also Apple Music’s featured artist for the “Music That Moves Me” playlist series.

“What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” is available to stream on all major platforms. Sweat will be released May 1 via Virgin Music Group, with pre-orders available now.
